I wouldn't be offering much at all because I have no idea if I can make this
idea even work....
I have to redo the entire exhaust on my van (mainfold back) and think I might be
able to stick the Turbo exhaust behind the rear axle and have dual MR2 tips.....
But since I have no money it's proabbly a moot point.....

LOL, that would look hella cool. I'm gonna keep the car and fix it, so I'll
probably need the muffler for a while yet.

Why do you want a loud exhaust? You can't possibly enjoy those disturbing the peace" tickets, do you? <g>
If you are expecting a louder exhaust to yield better performance, I wouldn't be so quick to make that determination.
Fwiw. I have both the Rod Millen exhaust and intake on my car and it is plenty loud. It has a nice low burble at idle, and sounds very good when under power. Definitely NOT the "pissed-off bumble bee" sound of your typical Honda.

A buddy of mine had the Greddy Power Extreme exhaust on his 98 Eagle Talon, that didnt have the bumble bee sound it had a deep, low sound. That is what I wanted, but I dont want sound over performance, I just want something a little louder that the stock for people to knwo I'am coming.

Chris:
did you order the intake/exhaust directly from RMM?? What did you pay for the two?
been debating quite a bit on buying the set, but i'm not sure who else is coming out with a good intake/exhaust combo...
how do you like it? Big power increase?
very curious...

I think you'd appreciate the TRD exhaust, then. it has a low rumble to it. but to really scare the Hondaweenies, you need to get an intake, too. when the high-rpm cam kicks in at 6000 rpms, you can definitely hear the change through the intake.

yes, I was one of the first to buy both of them. the installation details and pricing are posted on my web site below. if you call RMM, talk with Blair Stopnik. He's a nice guy and will take care of you.

Ok Zippy...here's a quick lesson. LOUD DOES NOT EQUAL HORSEPOWER.
LOUD != FAST
LOUD != COOL
LOUD != HORSEPOWER
LOUD = STUPID
LOUD = RICE
Therefore,
YOU = MORON
Generally, a louder exhaust will only DECREASE your torque (something the celica doesn't have any to spare in the first place). It has been proven THOUSANDS of times that a tuned exhaust (check out flowmaster.com, they explain it) is better than a LOUDER exhaust. No one wants to hear your raspy ass coffee can muffler.
Are you sure you have a celica and not a Civic CX Hatchback?

Well Jim I really dont care what you think, I would not stop doing something because of your "Cool" opinion. I'am hooking this car up the way I want it. So once again I could care less what you say. You and the rice boy crap, WTF is that? Well I just bought a body kit for my car and some lowering springs, that must make me a rice boy as well.

Get a custom exhaust made...There's a place up in Newry called O.N. Exhausts
who quoted me 250 quid for a full custom made stainless system. I never got
it made as the exhaust still hasn't gone after 3 years and 45,000 miles +
whatever the prev. owner did...
And that information is all well and good UNLESS it is your A/C compressor
that has seized as happened to me. I have the old compressor and it is
frozen solid so not just a sensor. But you can pick up a 2nd hand compressor
for about 40 quid (I think it was), again from a breakers in Newry who has a
pile of them on the shelf. Just make sure it's a GT4 compressor, not a
standard ST182 as the 182 apparently doesn't have climate control, only
air-con.
And I'm sure the button question has been asked already but I can't remember
the answer!

Mongoose do stainless for the Celica, but don't know about the 4WS
though.
Doing wiring any absolutly anything is easy, as long as you have a
meter, and know what you are looking for, even if all the wires were
the same colour! Bye the way, the super live amp was already out of
mine when i got it, but I've heard one on someone els's car.
Want to add Bphhh to your car? Take out the bottom of your air box,
and pepper the bottom and side of it (the side you can't see!!)with a
hole saw, about 25mm. What a difference, just hear the engine change
note @ 5000 rpm, you'd swear you had a turbo fitted. Fit it with a
Bosch replacement filter as this is a fibre element, rather than a
paper one. Its better than a cone job, and far less expensive to.
Most of all, you're insurance company will never know!!
One more, Don't buy Splitfire plugs! Buy Champion twin copper ones,
and cut your own "V" into them with a Dremmel or something like that.
They preform better, cheaper to ( if you have a dremmel or something
like that!) I've being doing it since my MkI escort days, long
before they came out. It cuts your emmisions, burns the fuel under the
elecrode, where normall plugs fail do so, in all it'll improve
your
accelaration, particulary low down the revs in a high gear.
Anybody else any tips?

Mongoose won't fit the 4ws system - in the UK the exhaust has four sections,
downpipe, mid section to cat (with flex), cat, rear section. The Jap 4ws
version has only 3 with the mid & cat sections combined (flexible). Not only
that but the contortions the pipe goes through to get over the steering gear
is amazing...Hmmm... I have had one thought though. I wonder if it's the
same as the GT4 exhaust - it has contortions to do for the awd. Might be
worth a look into as MANY GT-R components are GT-4 bits...
The place I mentioned a couple of days ago in Newry will do a custom
stainless system for 250 ukp, a mid section without cat in mild steel would
only have cost me 60 ukp...In the end I bought neither and the old system
has still not fallen off!
As for wiring...yes Andy, whatever you say... :-) You see, you were lucky,
you had no Super Live amp to strip out so the work was done for ya...
Adding BHP to the car by this method is gonna give you at best 2-3 HP and a
noisy intake. If you want a noisy intake why not just fit a cone filter like
K&N or there's a luverly HKS stainless steel jobby with micro-perforations
in a metal cone...vvveerrrryyy nice. If your insurance company is gonna go
through the pieces with a fine toothcomb then your drilled holes are going
to be spotted anyway. I haven't met an insurance company yet that cares
about air intake upgrades...with the amount we pay on these cars you could
do everything short of changing the engine and they wouldn't care - just
tell 'em about yer spanking new 17" alloys and they say "thanks very much"
and don't increase the premium at all.
The noise you hear at 5,000 is the T-VIS (A-CIS ... Argh!! Don't go there!)
system opening up the inlet flaps - you can hear the change in pitch with a
drop-in K&N panel replacement BTW... I believe the great Al. Burger once
said it was the only N/A car he'd driven which suffered from turbo lag ;-)
Don't bother with the Champion double copper or the splitfires or the Bosch
+4 (or is it super 4 or whatever!). I use the NGK grooved and they are
excellent - the car was hesitant with the Bosch plugs, even when warmed up
so I swapped 'em for a set of NGK and the hesitancy disappeared totally. BTW
This is 3S-GE I'm talking about, can't speak for the Bosch plugs for any
other engine and I have heard good reports but they just seem to make mine
worse...
Overall though, don't expect much in the way of gains from stuff like plugs
& intake... Even plugs, intake & gutted cat only got me from stock 163hp
(Jap spec) up to 171hp and then the gutted cat has sacrificed a small amount
of low-down torque. Shame I don't have a turbo, probably would have managed
another 20-30hp with these mods on a GT4 :(
Now, where did I put my "Max Power" window sticker, that's gotta be good for
another 10....
