> Has anyone installed a factory antenna? Is it the pain in the hiney > it looks like it could be? I can only ASSUME that since you are saying it's a pain in the hiney that you're talking about a MKII with the antenna running through the spoiler? If so you might just want to replace the mast only with is not as hard and costs much less. Steve Hoult '89 SC ASP #9 Visit the MR2SC Website at Http://www.mr2sc.com

Actually the problem is that the radio is not oem. (Already changed when I purchased the car) The power antenna did not work and the mast was broken. From what I can find on the internet, it appears to be a major pain to try to get a factory antenna to work with non oem radio. I'm thinking of taking it to cartronics and having them do it, but I hate to spend the bucks.

DO NOT take it to Cartronics! That place can't install anything right. If you take it to a shop, take it to HiFi Buys. It's not hard to install it with the oem antana. I did this on Dougs car when he took his out. It's simply a matter of jumping a wire in the back near the antana and connecting the remote/ pwr antana on the radio to it. I can't remember off the top of my head which witre it was, but when I get home tonigh I'll look at the wiring diagram in my book to see. Maybe we could get Doug to go pull the trunk lininer on his car back and let us know. Maybe even a picture :) Dale
