Brian,
Have you been able to do any kind of extended driving of a Prius like for a day or over the weekend? The seamless transition of power between electric and gas continues to amaze me. So many things were done right with this car.
Mitch

Mitch,
I've just had my weekend getting to know the Prius on a more personal level. I've gotten to drive it all weekend long, and I must tell you, its been hard to stop driving it. I've gone over 350 miles, and there is still a half a tank of gas left. I've driven all over the S.F. Bay Area, highway driving, city driving, the hilly streets in San Francisco, and the Prius has been just amazing. I just love starting out from a stop in "stealth mode" and just cruising around on the electric motor. It has been a real pleasure to get first hand experience driving the Prius, and I will be sad tomorrow morning when I have to return it back to the dealership. The "seamless transition of power", as you put it, is truely amazing, and after learning how that feat is accomplished, makes me appreciate all the more.
Well, midnight has struck for Cinderella, and I must return to reality tomorrow, but I will always cherish the time I got to spend driving a truely amazing vehicle.
Wishing all of you many happy miles of driving.
Brian

Be careful about the fuel gauge. If you've gone 350 miles, you only have about 100 to go before a fillup is due!
-Jim Alden

Brian,
The Prius is addicting. I?m glad that you had a chance to get hooked. Put on 200 miles myself yesterday. Funny how easily 55mph became 70mph without my noticing (I need cruise badly). Part of the drive was down a dirt road covered with 5" of new snow. There was one set of wheel tracks to follow so I didn?t drive off into someone?s farm field. Felt very secure.
Mitch

Mitch,
I forgot to add... I averaged 44 mpg on my little weekend adventure (350 miles) and loved every minute of it.

Brian

Brian,
44 was my average too. Pretty good considering that I drove 90% hwy, 10% cty at around 33 degrees.
Mitch
