I have an 05 Solara also; great car - minor problems, all covered under basic warranty. I'd suggest that before you buy any extended warranty you read the article in Consumer Reports, (I believe it's in the April issue.) Basically, what it says is that if you buy a highly-rated car, such as the Totyota, that chances of you covering your premium are extremely low. The only repair cost I had outside the warranty coverage(already have 66k miles on it) was $200 as my share of the cost of replacing the steering intermediate shaft. Toyota has TSBs (technical service bulletins) on noise problems with it. Since my car was out of warranty, they agreed to supply the part; I paid the labor. As far as maintenance goes, follow the owners manual and don't allow them to sell you extra services you don't need, such as fuel injection cleaning. Good luck. Hy
