I'm in the market for an '07 Sequoia. And was wondering if the factory extended warranty was worth it. My dealer quoted me $1,675 for 6yr 100K. Any thoughts?

save your money, if anything goes wrong, it should happen within the next 3 years or before 36k miles warranty expires. Toyota vehicles are known to be very good and last a long time. just make sure you do the normal service for your vehicle. I have a 07 sequoia with 3k miles on it. the only problem so far is the battery. I had it replaced by the dealership under warranty, they also check the electrical system for me. I have own 3 other toyota trucks, any problems the standard warranty takes care of it. After the warranties expires, you can usually go to an independent mechanic for any repairs, usually dealership charges alot more for repairs, nothing against dealership, but every one is always concern about prices. I've had this 07 Sequoia for about 3 month now. took a long trip, 1200 miles, was a nice and comfortable ride. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/s12.gif)

Not trying to be a stick in the mud but, what do you think it would cost Jeffa1 to replace the trany if it goes out when the thing hits 40,000 miles, it's a whole lot more than $1,675, try $2,465, unless they end up putting what some places call replacement value parts or non dealership (used stuff) which still can be $1,500 for something that could have 50,000 miles in it. I always used to think the same as sequoia07 until that one day back on January 6th 2003 when I had 38,067 miles on my 4Runner and I thought no problem the dealer ship will take care of this because I'm only 2,000 miles over HA!HA! fat chance over two thousand dollars later. In other words if you can get good coverage on mechanical breakdown or powertrain for anywhere in the area of 5 to 6 years and 100k miles for under 2 grand it doesn't take rocket science to ad that up. Cheep insurance. sure it's a gamble but isn't life anyway?

I'm not trying to stir the pot but I thought the same way. "extended warranty, sorry Mr. Finance Manager I just bought a brand new vehicle from your dealership it better not break, it should last forever after all it's a Toyota"

My issue did not hinder my faithfulness in the brand Toyota at all, I've been a Toyota owner for 22 years now and more to come I'm sure.

look in your warranty book, I think the transmission is cover for 60K miles and so many month. its under power train warranty. I will agree with you. but if you buy the extented warranty, don't add it to the price of the vehicle and don't finance it over over the years. paid cash for it up front.
