Hi everyone!

This is my first time on this club. I live in So. Cal., and have a '72 FJ40 with a '70 Chevy 307 V8 and THM-350 auto trans. Also have 2-1/2" lift Burbank springs with Mickey Thompson gas shocks.

I figure I have over 300,000 miles on my L/C -- not sure, as I've replaced the speedo twice, and it was broken when I bought the truck used from a private party in 1979.

The truck has been sitting next to the garage for over a year now, needing engine work. I bought a 2000 Nissan Xterra in Sept., 1999, but now instead of trying to build that up to something it'll never be, I've decided to sink some money into my beloved L/C.

Plans are to replace the 4-bbl. carb with Edelbrock Multi-Point EFI, replace the stock cam with Edelbrock Performer cam & Rhoads variable-duration lifters, replace the god-forsaken non-self-adjusting drum brakes with 4-wheel disc brakes (Downey Off-Road rear, Spectre Off-Road front), and add Powertrax No-Slip locker in at least the rear, and maybe the front.

Future plans are to switch to 4" lift Soft-Ride springs (Downey Off-Road, or maybe SuperLift) with Bilstein shocks, and 35" tires with Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels.

Has anybody replaced their front bench seat with bucket seats? Did you keep the inside fuel tank? What did you do with the evaporative tank inside the passenger-side seatback?

This is long enough, so happy 4-wheelin' and keep the shiny side up!

Lory J
