Looking at the little fj bolt on hitch sold by toyota, I wonder at it doing the job. it uses the rear box beam to provide the strength. I have to wonder what pounding through the bush and back roads with a trailer will do to that beam. I have seen 4 runner frames crack just behind the rear axle from just such abuse. The after market hitch from Reese or draw tight stretches between the two side beams and bolts on as well providing an additional cross beam to take the abuse and if failure should occur not total that rear beam.
