I'm looking to upgrade from an FJ80 to an FJ100 and need to know some technical info on timing belt/chain replacement requirements on the FJ100. First, i'm not sure if the FJ100 has a timing belt or chain (FJ80 has a timing chain, which i've yet to replace after 150K miles. If it is a belt, my guest is that it should be replaced at 60-90K miles. But if chain, I never could get anyone to tell me when the chain should be replaced. I've been told that on the FJ80, since the engine is what they call non-interference, it is okay to simply wait for the failure of the chain. But this is not so with interference engine design, where timing belt replacement is recommended prior to failure. I respect the communities comments on this topic. Thanks.
