Now that I have finaly made the decission to upgrade my suspension on
a stock 1993 FJ80 (all factory parts) to the Old Man Emu (OME)
system, I'm now faced with the decission of spring coil and shock
firmness selection.
All in the group who have installed the OME system on their FJ80...I
need you advice... I don't have a heavy front of rear bumper (just
the stock) and my goal is to improve ride, cornering, and gaining a
small ground clearance. I'm focussed on the system the will give me
a two inch lift, but choice of the following coil/shock setup.
1. Standard coil (F/R) with firm shocks (F/R) - some say that OME
shock are on the soft side so going with the firm shocks is better
without compromise the on-road ride.
2. Heavy coil (F/R) with standard shocks (F/R) - this seems to be the
common tread, but only drawback is that the tailend appears higher
without the load on the back.
3. Heavy Coil (F), Standard Coil (R) with standard shocks (F/R) -
this is an improvement to setup #2 to remove the tailend lift
problem, but my concern is possible sagging when loaded.
Okay, time to hear from the community on what ya all thinks. Which of
the three or your own setup recommendation. Thanks...
