QUOTE
Ford Motor Co. (F) said its April sales of cars and light trucks in the U.S. fell 13%, in what was expected to be a tough month overall for the auto industry.

Ford said it sold 228,623 cars and light trucks in April, compared with 262, 722 a year earlier.

The Dearborn, Mich., company's passenger-car sales fell 24%, while sales of trucks and sport utility vehicles - representing Ford's most profitable business - were down 5.8%.

QUOTE
Ford's claim to the title of the No. 2 U.S. auto maker is waning as Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. ™ gains market share. Toyota, which will release its sales numbers shortly, overtook Ford for worldwide No. 2 ranking in 2003 and in the first quarter beat out GM for the No. 1 worldwide ranking for the first time.

Ford posted the sharpest sales declines among the major domestic auto makers in the first three months of 2007. It lost a company-record $12.7 billion in 2006.

That doesn't surprise me that Ford fell that much. It wasn't to long ago that they had the Ford taurus as one of the country's best sellers now it seems they are just struggling. I think it will be a long time before they right the ship.

If they ever do right the ship. Once Ford loses customers to Toyota and Honda, chances are they will never get them back.

Yet you drive a ford???

hate to break it to you buddy, but everything that goes wrong at toyota will be page 1 now, not page 5 so nobody hears about those 533k recalls or the sludge in the engine problem, or the million recalled world wide. Gm had every problem with every vehicle in the lime light for people to gauk at. I dont think toyotas ride as number 1 will last more than a year or two. Honda will never be there.

I agree. Ford was once really popular. We even had a ford Taurus before, but we soon shifted to Toyota.

I drive a Ford because the price was right. If I could have gotten a Tundra as cheaply as I got my F-150, no way would I be driving a Ford. Believe me, Im counting the days untill I trade my Ford in on another Toyota.

Everything that goes wrong at Toyota has been front page news for a few years now. Every time Toyota has the slightest little recall everyone freaks out, but when Ford or GM have a recall its almost as if its to be expected.
As far as Toyota's ride at #1 not lasting more than a year or 2, we shall see. Toyota didnt get where they are today by chance and you can bet they wont make the same mistakes that Ford and GM did. Toyota is smarter than that.

They got there because of word of mouth. Nobody heard of the 1,000,000 vehicles recalled. Nobody heard of the 533k 07's recalled since Feb07. Nobody heard of the settlement toyota just made which affects 3 million vehicles...after 10 years of denying a problem. But you can be **** sure every knob or defective blinker in a GM model made front page. All Im saying is Toyota has a lot of tightening up to do to stay at the top. That and they need to stop trying to claim to be american.

So Toyota has over 1million recalls, what about GMs 2million car recall in 2005? Or the thousands of cobalts recalled this year?

Again that was over 3 years. Toyotas 533k this year is well on track to that number. Im not saying GM is god, just that Toyota isnt. Their recalls the past few years are well on par with their domestic counterparts, maybe because americans are doing most of the work now? Or wait....is that why they sell so good?

I really hate getting political or controversial, but I can tell you exactly why Ford's sales are dropping. Their sales are dropping because of their blatant support of the homosexual agenda despite their promise to remain neutral on the issue. Sine they've done this there has been a boycott going on, and it will continue until they stop funneling money into promoting homosexuality.

You can find out more about this at http://www.afa.net or at http://www.boycottford.com

Inferior product has something to do with it as well. Ive heard what the above poster mentioned before, but I dont think that most people really care either way.
If the quality and fuel economy were there, Fords would be selling. The sales numbers tell the tale.

The bottom line is they don't make ford products like they use to. Owned four of them and the last one I had was nothing but junk. Would not recommend a ford to my enemy

Ford is good if you want a fullsize truck or sportscar, but other than they there are better options on the market.
