I asked my local Toyota dealer to check on the availability of a front end mask for the Prius. He quoted me a price of $143.00 but said that they are not currently available. He suggested that I check back in a month or so.
Okay, I realize that a mask will affect the gas mileage, but does anyone out there have any experience using one of these "Wonder Bras"?

If you search through old messages on the Honda Insight list,
www.egroups.com/groups/honda-insight
you should find reference to an "invisible bra"--a clear, tough coating for the front end of the car. If I had a light-colored Prius, I'd be interested, after observing the build-up of impossible-to-remove insect debris on the front bumper of our silver station wagon.
--Eric in Enfield, Maine

I ordered mine through the parts dept. at my Toyota dealer. P/N: PT21847010
Price: $143.00
I actually returned it before I installed it. It came with 4 pages of instructions and it recommended that you remove the mask when it rains. Seemed like too much hassle. YMMV.
Nats

Does the mask prevent you from
opening the hood;ie do you have to
unfasten part or remove it entirely?

It is made of 2 pieces. One is on the hood.

Installation: Sierra Toyota installed mine gratis since they had to keep my car an extra day after it arrived. The mask has clips which are customized to the holes in the hood. The setup is nice.

I found I can wash the car with the mask on. I just don't wash the top of the hood.

I think it looks really cool, esp. with white.

I paid $129.

Sierra Toyota has parts available on their web site: SierraToyota.com

They really did right by me.

And I love my Prius.

Dave Brown

Oh, yes.The 2 pieces mean that you can open the hood with the mask on without adjusting anything.

Dave

Does anyone have pictures of (or URL links to pictures of) the front-end mask? I assume it's black like other car "bras"? Thanks.

Does anyone have pictures of (or URL links to pictures of) the front-end mask?

I'm anxious to see, too.
Jeff Hirsch at egroups will be posting pictures there (www.egroups.com/group/toyota-prius)
but it's taking a while for his developer to print the black-and-white photos. (He's also applied side molding stripes for $20) and is using his prosthetics skills to make rear wheel skirts!)
I posted the part # for the mask at the egroups database. Look for a Toyota dealer who is willing to charge less than the $143 MSRP--I believe THEIR invoice price is $89!
--Eric in Enfield, at P minus 7.5 hr!
