Hi everyone,
Got a slight problem wit my 02 prerunner (tacoma), V/6, 3.4 Litre, (5VZ-FE), and the gas gauge stopped working on me.
I bought a Beck/arnley (#201-1220), and it look's totally different than what I think is the ending unit.
The auto part's store, which I use alot, say's there are 2. 1 for the computer, which I read causes the engine to run rough, which mine is not. the second one just run's the gauge on the dash.
Does anyone know if the one next to the thermostat housing is the one I am looking for or is it located elsewhere?.
I disconnected what I thought was the sending unit and the check engine light came on. Jumpered the two lead's ,reset computer and nothing, still had the engine light and the guage didn't move at all.
Can anyone share their knowledge a bit with me. Could it be the gauge itself?
The replacement I bought has just a "spade" plug like the older year's, but the one near the t-housing has a 2 wired plug. Did I get the wrong one? Should I got to the dealer?
I was a tech for over 13 year's and now I am out of the field and am not sure if I am barking up the wrong tree?
Budman of the deep south here.
