What size fuel lines came on the 18RG Celicas? Was installing my new gas tank (upgraded from 6 to 8 US gallons) and noticed that my fuel line is only 3/16th of an inch, or about 4.75mm. I think my 185HP (hopefully... with fingers crossed) 18RG will need a little more flow than the original 36HP 948CC push-rode engine that came in my Sprite. TIA! -Drew

Hey there Drew, My 20R equipped Celica came with a 1/4" fuel line. The 18RG replaced the 20R but the fuel line remained and with dual 44 Mikunis this worked fine, note though that I did throw a new fuel pump into the gas tank. I would say that a normally aspirated 4 cyl. should be ok with a 1/4" fuel line. I'm still running a standard bore (88.5mm), 10.5:1 compression, 304/288 cams and have had no issues with fuel starvation. I don't see a real problem with going over the .25 inch size but that's what fuel line I'm using. Hope this helps. El. Go CELICAs!

My 18RG is a stock bore (88.5mm) and 10.5:1 Venolia pistons, I'm running it with Std. Total Seal Gapless Rings, 304/288 cams. Replaced all the Seals and bearings. Used ARP bolts everywhere, Dual 44Mikunis with ITG velocity stacks, authentic TRD headers, port and polished head and port matched to intake manifold and headers. Rods have been magnafluxed and shotpeened. NGK Plugs, Yazaki TRD red wires, Permacool 6 pass oil cooler and a Griffin 3 row aluminum radiator. Yamaha Head number -270. Good wide powerband from around 2900 to redline - 7500. It's not all engine though, the chassis has been lightened and the suspension uses Bilstein shocks, Suspension technique Springs and Sway Bars. Polyurethane bushings everywhere. Cusco front strut tower bar. If there is one area I can still really change is the brakes. The front uses vents to help cool them and the rear is standard drum but these are using '81 Celica semi-metallic pads and kept in very good condition. Tires are 15x6 Panasports with Dunlop SP9000s (215/50ZR15). Autopower racebar. To improve balance, battery has been moved to diagonally oppose the driver. Driver controls are Formuling France Steering Wheel, Cobra Silverstone driver's seat, 5 point harness. With the lighter chassis though, I am using a lot less brakes and overall acceleration of the car is good. It is power to weight that gets you moving and through corners more than just engine power alone. Hope this helps, El. Go CELICAs!
