Hi all, Looks like the electric fuel pump on my RA28 has failed. Still makes its pumping noise but no fuel come out. I changed out the pre filter incase the original had blocked and I tried to bleed/prime the lines through the pump but still nothing comes out unless I'm sucking on the end (must pick up my siphon pump from the folks). Do fuel pumps normally fail this way or do they normally fail electrically? Also if it has failed (and I suspect it has) where can I source a replacement? I just need an external pump that can supply enough fuel to keep an 18RG happy. I'm in Melbourne Australia also so I need a pump sourced from an Aussie delivered vehicle. Please help, the missus 1lt 3cylinder daihatsu just isnt as much fun to drive to work in the morning. Cheers Glen RA40 (3TGTE) RA28 (18RG) RA40 (18RC)

Your problem is likely to be the rubber membrane inside the pump - dodgy fuel (eg woolies/safeway budget petrol) has been known to cause failure of this component. The electric motor stil spins, but the pump won't supply pressure. One decent replacement is the VL Commodore (turbo) pump. We used this on a mate's 4age, and the 18R probably wants similar pressure. -Dave.
