Toyota is probably working on future technology
that they will add to the LS430 platform over the next
5 years before a new redesign. Here is what I
predict.
* intellegent navigation system to allow rerouting
around high traffic areas.
* more intellegent active
cruise control that will work in stop-and-go
conditions.

6-speed automatic (for better fuel economy and to match
the 6-speeds to be offered by the germans in the next
1-2 years).

Direct Injection technology: for
better fuel economy and power, perhaps an updaded
certification of SULEV to keep up with emmission
standards.

active suspension: similar to the Benz
system,
although Lexus will have its own twist to it.
An
optional active suspension will allow for a sport/ride
switch. So the euroturned model could have impeccable
ride and the ultra lux model could handle
precisely.

Wider range of internet access technology including on
demand access to mp3 audio.

Towards the end of
the 5-year cycle, a sport tuned LS430 with more
horsepower and more aggressive suspension, to help bolster
sales. Perhaps Lexus will produce similar models to the
AMG tuned vehicles of mercedes.

For the year
2006, the redesigned LS430 will
probably have the
following techology

* 42v electrical system
*
electronic engine values (made possible by 42v electrical
system)
* electronic steering and braking (brake and steer
by wire) (made possible by 42v electrical
system)
* Active suspension will most likely be standard.
pricing of system will go down due to 42v
electrical system
* Optional video screens in rear for
entertainment and internet access.
* humidity control
feature added to climate system.
* air bags to
protect the legs
* rear seat front airbags
* front
grill mounted pedestrian airbags (something being
considered as a mandate by the US government).

Future
updates to 2006 LS430 redesign

* optional
automated steering (made possible by steer by wire)
