after a couple of days worth of fun and games with my new reason for living, i decided to take it to a local sports car garage to see what could be done to make my GTR a bit faster. the guy said the catalytic converter could be "doctored" to remove an emissions filter to make it faster - which im sure most of you guys know about/have already done. but i was wondering; a) was it true what i was told that pre- "K" reg cars dont have as strict an emissions level in order to pass MOT regs. b) could i use a decatted exhaust from a similar age GT4. and c) how much of a difference would it make? also, if someone was selling engine parts generally for a 5th Gen. GT4 ST185 3S GTE engine type, will they fit my baby and what are the exceptions i should know about before parting with my hard-earned reddies? cheers plug :)

IIRC pre 93 cars don't have to have a cat, 93 - some other year i can't remember have to pass a cat test but don't necessarily have to have the cat in place, anything after that has to have the cat there. GT4 exhaust won't fit, I would reckon that any gt4 parts that would fit wouldn't make any difference power wise (unless it's the turbo ;))

General rule of thumb. 1. New spark plugs 2. New plug leads 3. New dissy cap 4. New Fuel Filter 5. Ign advanced 3 degress to run better on Super unleaded 6. Induction kit with cold air feed 7. Full stainless system from downpipe back 8. Ligtenen car as much as possible most celica 2.0 Gti parts are interchangeable

IIRC the gt4 has 2 cats, the one in that picture is the first one which is directly below the turbo then the second one is around the same place as yours.
