People are still complaining about the lack of cruise control (yes, it would be nice), but no one has inquired about the statement made by Priusman in message #104 regarding the navagation system and not being able to add it on later: "The Factory Navigation system cannot be added after production since it requires a unique wiring harness."<br><br>If this is true, then why are the buttons to access it (Map/Dest) on the dash? That is really cruel. It'd be like putting all the controls for cruise control in the car and not being able to use it.<br><br>So, is this really true? A special wiring harness that cannot be added later sounds dubious to me.<br><br>cb

I second that! Having those buttons there, tormenting us early adopters is just too cruel :-)

Both would be nice but deep down inside I feel safer not having either. I can just picture going down the highway with the cruise control on and feet crossed while looking at the GPS map on the dash and then cars in front start locking them up.<br><br>You can get a handheld GPS units now for $200 (no map) to $300 (with map) which would also come in handy for foot and bicycle travel. The MSRP next year will probably be at least that much more without cruise control.

Wasn't there some guy in Germany that <br> drove his car off a ramp into the water<br> while reading his GPS map?<br>Lets see it says "now enter ferry for river crossing".<br> Adam

I third that. I've heard from elsewhere (unfortunately, can't remember where) that the Nav system would be addable. And it should be. The control buttons are there, and the system responds to them. A portable GPS is what, the size of a Palm Pilot? It should be nothing more then a simple module plug-in. I have a hard time beliveing the "special wire harness" stuff. That would speak of extremly poor design on the part of the engineers. Considering how well designed the rest of the vehicle is, I doubt this one part was designed so poorly. I hope some one can clear this up with a reasonable explination, and if the factory system can't be added, what can us early adopters do with the extra buttons (along with the potential extra functionality which seems to be there already)?
