It's between 1100 and 1220 kg (the st202 is 1220 and I think the st183 is slightly lighter) Whilst failing the MOT last night I noticed that my car 2 up c/w with bass box etc in the boot weighed in at 610kg on the rear axle, unfortunately I didn't notice what the front was :(

So I won't have any problems lifting the whole front of my car (including 2 16" wheels/tyres) with a 2ton hydraulic jack?

The jack will lift it no problem but from a safety POV you'd be better jacking up one side, putting it on an axle stand then do the same with the other, I wouldn't trust a jack whilst you're hauling and pulling at the steering? (maybe I'm just getting old and "sensible")

Cheers for the advice? I've always jack one side up at a time and use axle stands (when working under car). But, I just wanted to cut down on the hassle of jacking up both sides, while I might be able to do it in one go and place the axle stands under it. I'm going to fit couple of front stabiliser bar bushes and (maybe another linkage, as I've fitted one a few months ago). Is it always a good idea to fit both linkages, instead of one? Sorry about your car failing the MOT. Did it fail on much?

You might as well replace both while your at it. My car failed on one rust spot on the rear drivers side brake pipe and a dodgy tyre, they missed the soggy rear shocks, leaky power steering and faulty 4ws :) I just bought a steering rack off ebay for a bargain price but on closer examination it may just be the high pressure hose from hell that's leaking so if anyone's looking for one it might be back up for sale some time soon.

I had a leaky power steering rack - was bad... I cured it by putting some of that stop leak stuff in the power steering reservoir about 6 months ago; and touch wood it's still ok.

I tried that but it didn't work, either the seals were too far gone or it wasn't them to start with.
