Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. I bought the HID kit for my 2008 Rav-4 and I am less than pleased with it.
The problem lies in the Rav-4 having a 4 lamp system. On a 2 lamp system (one headlight per side) the bulbs (or possibly the housing) have a little flipper inside that toggles back and forth between high and low beams. With this system there is no delay when flipping back to high beams after dimming for oncoming traffic.
With the four lamp system (2 per side) the high beam lamps actually cut power and go out. There is no flipper thingy in the bulb or housing. When you switch back to high beams there is about a 10 second delay before the high beams reach full brightness because the bulbs take time to warm up. If there is only one car the bulb may not cool much and will come right back but if you dim for a long line of traffic they will cool right down and require warming up again.
I do not recommend putting HID bulbs in a 4 lamp Rav 4. They are only a little brighter than the stock bulbs and cost an arm and a leg to install.
