I took it into a mechanic shop where they changed out the old timing belt and put in a completely brand new timing belt kit. I was only doing this for regular maintenance. Before it purred like a kitten now, it is very very loud. Even when it idles it is noticeable. Any suggestions I can tell the mechanic to make it sound like its old ways. He is kind of playing dumb and saying that he can't notice much of a difference so I want to approach him with some ideas any suggestions would be terrific thank you.

Hello to you in Vancouver.
Not long ago on Vacation from England I drove from Calgary to Vancouver taking in Jasper and Banff in a Chevvy trail blazer then sailed the inner passage stopping at Jenau and Skagway and many more on the NCL norwegian sun. Happy times.

Anyway, I digress,....Has he got the belt 1 tooth out? if so your in big trouble matey as the noise may well be the pistons contacting the valves. Its been done before MANY TIMES. Does the vehicle seem to have more or less power than it did? Another sure sign of being 1 tooth out as valves are not closing opening when they should in relation to crank position.

I hope its not this but, only other explanation is he has not fitted a cover or something back properly and its fouling on some rotating part

Gool Luck

Al.

I had a timing belt tightener go bad on my truck. The timing belt made a lot of noise as it flopped around like a wet noodle. Still ran fine tho. Took me quite a while to figure out what was going on. Maybe you guy forgot to install it?
