hi all, just bought a 1989 gt-r 4ws. went to halfords to buy a manuel. told them it was a jap import, and what did they send me a book on imports for the celica but mine is not in it. acording to the log book it was manu in 1987 but this being my first celica it does not add up, it has a gen 5 body not 4 which would make this car a 1990-1993 am i right? i need to find out so i can start sorting a few things out. can some one help? johnny

go to amazon and get a copy of one of the american manuals. Slighly different, but as close as you'll get and better than a Haynes. The 5 gen appear in britain 90 - 93, they appeared else where before that I think.

If you check your seat belt tags it will tell you what year your car is, your body shape appeared in japan in 89 but wasn't marketed elsewhere until 90.

thanks for the reply but the manuel i got was for u.s & canadian models but does not cover the 4ws model.1986_1993. i need a jap manuel.

ya wont get one!!!! best u will do is an st182 manual, basically identical, only thing it dont cover is the superlive sound system, tems (electronic suspension) and the 4ws system. We have collected as much info as possible, and believe me, the system is a peice of piss to work out. info can be found in the fies section. Marty = = = Original message = = = thanks for the reply but the manuel i got was for u.s & canadian models but does not cover the 4ws model.1986_1993. i need a jap manuel. johnny
