Hello out there.. I have a 2004..
For some odd reason, my headlamps keep blowing..
Not sure why, but I've come to the conclusion that it could be the daytime running lamp system. It's a great safety feature to a point, but it's useless if my lamps keep blowing. I've always worn latex gloves to prevent any contamination of the lamps when replacing..
Is there a way to disable the DRLs? Unplugging the fuses and relays for the DRLs doesn't help. Contacted various dealers and they've been unwilling to help. .. (Liability issues) Although, the owner's manual does state to contact dealer to have that feature disabled.
If I can disable the DRLs, I would like to install an HID kit in it's place. I love my vehicle but not when it's constantly blind. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

I would try to contact upper management on this situation, they should be able to fix your car especially if you have it in writing.

First, it seems like something is wrong if they're blowing that often so the dealer needs to address that issue.
When did it start doing this?

Two, if the dealer still refuses to address it, then start writing letters!

Thank you for your response. In order for me to install an HID kit, I would need to disable the DRLs which no Toyota dealer will be no part of. Plus the DRL's are shortening my lamp life dramatically.
Anyone else suffering from the DRL syndrome?

Thank you for your response. Only 1 bulb blows out at a time. It doesn't matter which side, driver or passenger. For the amount of $ I spent replacing bulbs, I'm opting for HIDs now.

Thank you for your response. This started when I swapped the stock bulbs for sylvania silverstars(early '06).
It couldn't be the bulbs. I've ran these ones for 3 years and no problems. Of course, the ones in my truck were new..The dealers are going to "squash" my claim due to using a non factory part..But the owner's manual states that the warranty will not be voided if a non factory part is used. By bringing it into the dealer, time is wasted and the actual problem will not be addressed. DRLs are the only thing that I can think of as the cause. Thank you.

How long between the time you replaced the bulb, and when the first one blows.
