My '05 Highlander is blowing heat full time. The dealer says the electronic control is bad and wants $700 for a new one. My mechanic says it is probably a wiring problem that can be repaired, or that I can get a replacement from a junkyard. But 1) how do I get the bad one out, 2) where do I take it to get it fixed, and 3) what is this thing called so that I know what to ask for at a junkyard.

The unit is called the HVAC Control head . let them know if it is the electronic one or the manual one. I hear about alot of these going bad. Hope this helps.

If it's a manual one the turning on & off of the switch actually breaks the wire on the back of the switch. I took mine off and resoldered it. Works great!
