Hello!
My wife and I are thinking of getting a Prius, we really like the whole idea of the Prius and this may seem silly....but (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)
How do you fine folks who have a Prius like it?
My wife has a roughly 35min commute (around 18miles) all of it on country back roads, we live in the heart of Lancaster county Amish country, so lots of slowing for buggies than acceleration around them,
with a few longer trips running on the highway. How do you feel the Prius would preform under these conditions? We both drive what I consider to be conservative i.e. we are not lead foots.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to becoming a Prius owner!!
Thanks again and all the Best
Kirk

I've had my 2005 Prius for 2 1/2 years & love it, especially when I cruise past the gas stations. As far as passing on the highway, it has remarkably good pickup. Shouldn't be a problem. The information screen constantly tells you what your mpg is at any given moment so you are encouraged not to be a "lead foot". About the only gripe I have is the wide posts on the side of the front window as well as the small back window, which somewhat limit visibility, but you get used to it quickly. I don't know if that has been modified on newer models.

Thank You! I was wondering about one other question... do any of you fine folks have young children in car seats? How do you find the prius suited for that?
Thanks we found a great looking Prius that we hopefully will get to test out soon..

Regarding car seats--we have carried grandchildren in both rear-facing and forward facing car seats without problem.

Your setting sounds ideal to me, relatively flat, moderate speeds, etc. Speeding up & slowing actually offers some advantage w/ the regenerative braking system. After break-in, certainly during your more moderate temperature months, you should average 50+ mpg easy. Buy it (at least a Standard w/ Pkg 2):)

Thank God, our kids are almost out of the nest - but with the great room in the back seat & teathering hooks, it seems that it would be ideal. Speaking of back seat size, did you know that there is more rear leg room in the Prius than in any Cadillac Consumer Reports tested? Enjoy! :)
