hello everyone, let me just start off by saying that i currently own a 2000 celica gt (1.8L 4speed auto... wish i would have gotten the manual :< ), and i'm pretty happy with it, most cuz i love the look of it. also, i am new to this forum, so... well, hi!

here's what i got, kind of silly, but a problem nonetheless: for some reason, just recently, whenever i push the horn, it blows the 10a horn fuse. so, needless to say, i'm without a horn.

also, i'm not sure if it matters or not, but about 4-5 months ago i had an amp, deck, ipod charger kit, and subwoofer put in (best buy installed it). since then, both of my front fog lights have gone out, as well as each of my headlights (low beam). however, i believe that the light problem may just be a coincidence because i bought the car used (~70,000k miles) about 8 months ago, however i am not positive. is it possible that my system is drawing too much power or something like that (or just not installed right) and is causing things to short? or do you think my guess is right and the lights and horn fuse blowing are unrelated?

i'm going to stop by auto zone today and pick up some new lights to replace the ones that have burnt out (already checked the fuses, they're fine), but if anybody knows the reason why my horn fuse keeps blowing with the info i've given, i could really really really use the help so that i don't have to pay for a garage visit.

thank you in advance!

Well, I don't actually know how to fix it, but I just had to comment because this is such an odd problem. I've never heard of a horn doing that.
As a temporary fix, though, I suggest you get an air horn to keep in your car. Just in case you need to get someone's attention, at least you'd still be able to honk! lol.

sounds like one of the aftermarket audio parts you purchased isn't grounded correctly. Take it back to best buy and have them check to make sure the amp or deck is grounded.

Consider yourself lucky that all its doing is blowing your horn fuse! It could be blowing something more expensive to fix!

My mechanic charges $10 an hour if I take it to him first. $20 an hour if I try to fix it myself or let someone else try.

He says he almost never has to charge $10.
