2001 Toyota Tacoma TRD V6 4x4

My Toyota dealer is unable to diagnose my problem; they checked my cylinders and bled the clutch lines. My truck now has 100K miles on it. When it reached 60K it started having a problem where whenever I get back from a long highway trip (4+ hours) then for up to a week afterwards my clutch loses all its pressure until the truck warms up (for about 15 minutes). When the truck is warm everything works ok. When I let the truck cool down for more than a few hours, when I get into it the clutch only has about 1 inch of pressure. If I start the car I have to wait about 15 or more minutes and the clutch remains the same until the engine reaches max-normal temperature and then the clutch will slowly regain all of its pressure.

In these situations, the only way I can drive my truck is to put the car in 2nd gear when the truck is turned off and then turn on the truck while the car is in gear. That is the only way I can get the car going because I cannot get enough clutch depression to engage any gears. After driving for a while, when the truck gets hot, then the clutch functionality slowly returns to normal.

Any idea of what is causing this??

I fixed the problem. All I had to do was grab the clutch pedal and pull it out. When I did so I heard a "sucking sound" of air and then the pedal works fine.

hey thor,

my 02 tacoma has 112000 plus and I haven't experienced any problem with my clutch. Just a thought.... check pivoting linkages at the peddel/master and at the fork/slave interface. Rust and corrosion can play hell with things that rotate and pivot. The warming of the vehicle may expand clearences enough that once warm things are more or less normal. A little lube on these connections may resolve the problem warm and cold.
