Can anybody help?

I have a vehicle that I am told has a 5 speed toyota gear box in it. (holden 1 tonne ute).
I have owned it for 3 years but have no idea when the conversion was done.
I live in a remote outback location so local help is a bit thin on the ground (600 Km north of Adelaide).
Any info on how to identify the gear box, without removing it from the vehicle would be highly appreciated, even if any one out there knows of web sites, posting the url would be of great help.

Thanks heaps Jase, Roxby Downs, South Australia

Hi there, I own a Hiace YH71. Not relevant you say? well I have found that many parts from the Hiace (1983) corlla and hilux are interchangable - Do you have a 3y engine? if so, you may be looking at a gearbox listed here:

it's interchangable with a few older toyota engines, so I would have a good inkling that this may be what you have.

it's a 5 speed manual, but there are auto versions predictably.

hope this helps...
