was told this engine fits only '97 and newer Toyota trucks. let the knowledge flow...please.

That engine is the 5vz-fe. It will only mate up to the correct tranny without any major modifications. If you're trying to drop it into your '95 3.slow then you might have some complications.

yar it figures already replaced that motor, just wanted to be sure. this mates directly to what models?

Maybe '97, but definitely 98-03 6 cyl. 4Runners. 2004 is when they came out with the new models IIRC. I would try asking over on ultimateyota.com too.

It should bolt in and replace your 3.0L. It's not a direct swap as you need different motor mounts and other parts, but it can be done. Search around. I recall some web site selling kits with all you need to do the 3.0 to 3.4 swap.
