Hi! I need your help! I just backed over a huge rock that wasn't visible in the mirror and knocked off a black box with hoses coming out of it and what I think was the cover that held it on. It was on the vehicle under probably (at about) the back passenger drivers side. My husband is so angry. I need to know what it is and about how much they cost to replace.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I just learned that it may be part of the emissions system. Possibly called an evaporation canister or purger.?.

Yeah, it does look like part of the emissions system. It's weird that it's located towards the rear of the truck. Most of the time it's in the engine compartment.

Well if it was part of the EVAP system, your check engine light or emissions light would come on. At least it looks like the part itself wasn't damaged. Probably just order the piece that held it in place and some hose clamps.

Thanks for your responses! Some things have been broken off of it. May just be the parts that held it on. Not sure. Anyone know about the expense of these things? Is this something that a professional will have to replace? My husband is pretty good at fixing things.

I think it is called a vapor canister. It and its protector both were knocked off. There are so many pieces attached it is hard to tell what is okay, what is not, and what may be missing. I haven't been able to find many good pictures or diagrams of one.
