Hi there,

My 2000 Sienna's back seat belt (far side of the driver) became no-retractable for a while. I started to fix it today but I ended up to find out the whole belt mechnics is behind a big plastic cover and I could not find a way to remove it, in order to access the mounting part of the belt.

The user guide does not have the sector to teach us how to fix the seat belts, so, are we supposed to fix it or we have to send it to a dealer?

Thanx in advance for advises.

Hello there and welcome to the forum! Wow, that is a question i will leave to the experts. I have messed with seatblets before and ended up stretching them out to the point they wouldnt retract. But then again, I dont know when to quit. My first bet is to agree with you on calling the dealer first to see what they might offer. Hopefully someone here will be able to help! Again, welcome!

Sounds like you popped it out of its track. Run it by the dealer first. If you are in a hurry, any mechanic should be able to fix it!

Thanks guys. I thought I could do-it-myself to fix the belt, however, looks like I have to send the car to the shop or dealer.

Thanks again!

how did it work out with the seatbelt, leonlei, and did you ever find out what the problem was? I hope everything is resolved for you by now!

I was at Toyota yesterday for the 4th (!!!) time about broken seatbelts. Twice just twisted and easily fixed, twice NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I'm sorry for you, but glad to see that someone else has the problem. To replace the seatbelt is a $325 job. Please, please, please call Toyota USA to report the problem. I know 2 other people who had repeated seat belt issues and got so tired of spending $325 to replace them that they bought other cars. Toyota USA does not recognize this as a widespread problem. Even if the repair is made at the dealer Toyota USA only know if a customer calls and complains (at least that is what I was told). Please call and get a reference # and save it. If enough people call, perhaps they will recognize this as a defect and reimburse us.
