I'm new here. Need your help!

I have a 1997 toyota corolla. Last week I felt the acceleration was a bit rough. So I checked the engine oil. It was almost empty(No wonder!).

The pickup has also gone down.

I pour 3 quarts and a leak fixing liquid(Lucas Engine Oil stop leak).

I don't know whether it's burning oil or leaking oil. I do get a little bit of smell of oil burning when the car starts.

Please advise.

Thank you!

Hello, this is wilphil9455, I would try putting a large piece of cardboard under your car tonight as it sits. then check it in the morning. That will signify a leak. If you are burning a lot of oil, then you would notice alot of whiteish colored smoke coming from the tail pipe. Either way, you might need to have looked at by someone you trust.

thanks for the response. I'll do the cardboard test. I don't see any white smoke when the car runs.

hi what kind off oil are you using weigth 20/50w, 10/40w or 40w if the oil is too ligth is going to ¨evaparate¨ and you won´t see licking or burning. when the oil is too ligth and the valves seals are bad the oil will pass by.
