Hi,
I'm in the UK, and thinking about getting a 15 yr old Hi-Ace Composer Camper. The seller says it is a 2.7D 4WD and I'll be getting around 30MPG on a long run.
Can anyone confirm this? I thought it might be a 2.5D 2WD but I need to look under neath to check for drive shafts to the front wheels. Had a quick look when checking for a spare wheel, and saw a prop shaft. Looked rust free, and clean.
It made a clonk when I drove it round on full lock. What do you think?
Cheers

I have seen a 4WD of the same sort, I have a two wheel drive 3Litre Diesel myself, some how the milage doesnt ring true, my HiAce running on Diesel uses between 1 and 1.3 litre/10 km. Thats with 2 wheel drive and no extra whight onboard so I cant see a 2.7 with 4WD and extra wheight beating that....... Also, check underneath for the 4WD again as it seems to sit low in my eyes, I may very well be wrong, but better to check before hand.

your looking at hi 20s on a long run and low 20s in town.... mines a 2.8d 4wd auto....they tend to be in very good condition as the japs dont use salt on the roads and the space inside the hiace is far superior to a T4 camper or bongo but still small enough for everyday use...

maybe you should speak to these guys.. http://www.poplarmotors.co.uk/arrivals.php

OK, thanks. I see what do mean about low down for 4wd, and the 'real' mileage.
That poplars web site looks great. Thanks guys!
I was looking at VW's but my wife has realy fallen for this one! Should I be jealous!

a T4 will retun around 35 MPG...a hiace around 25... the hiace will be seriously cheaper ,roomier
and come wth far more toys.... if you plan to use it everyday I'd think about the T4...if your thinking
of a T25/3.... make sure your breaksdown cover is well up to date.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
