I just finished installing my cylinder head and everything else on my 1993 Toyota Camry 2.2L. Car started up great. The only thing I notice is when the car idles I hear a hissing noise near the throttle body. I tried to track it down, but have not as of today (maybe tomorrow). As soon as I give it gas it stops immediately. Just wondering if anyone had a clue here. I am starting to suspect the EGR, but I am not sure. All the hoses were put back properly as well as everything else. All new gaskets also. Like I said the car really runs great other than this. I placed my hand under where the throttle body is near the EGR and the sound changed a bit. I am wondering if the gasket is just bad on the throttle body. Maybe the hiss is normal? I can't recall it hissing before I took it apart. That is what's bugging me. Not sure about this.

it might just be a vacuum leak noise. Possibly the EGR but, if it were, you would lose power when driving. check to see if your throttle and egr position show up on this website:

EGR Valve

hope this helps

Thanks for the post. I checked the Throttle body carefully and noticed that I placed the gasket on backwards. The protusion of the gasket was up instead of being down.
Replaced gasket and the noise stopped. Issued resolved.
