Guys,
as you know, I have ordered an 18RGEU from ToySport. Now, the engine is not even in yet so I don't know what the real condition of it is or anything. ToySport had me jump through some hoops to order the engine as it is being delivered to a different place other than my house. Anyways, they email me asking me to ship back the manifold since they know my intention (for now) is to put my dual 44mm Mikunis on it when I'm all done. My brother is already questioning this because he says that's not a cheap part and if they charged you so much $ for the engine - the price included the intake manifold - and when it comes to us with it on there it should belong to us. If they want it back they would have to pay some $ for it or give me some of mine back. What do you guys think? I want to keep good relations with them but this seems like I get a bad deal out of it....

Hey El, DEFINATELY get some money back or keep the manifold. Just tell them you've decided to use it or something. I've heard some people badmouth toysport before and now it seems well deserved. Otherwise you can maybe try to cut the total cost of the price by a couple hundred or something. Mostly I've heard people complain about pricing but I figure if they have the expertise and the HTF parts then it's justifiable. But now it really sounds like they are just greedy.

Mike C

I had my run in with them. It took about a year to straighten out but they eventually made good.
Sounds fishy, If you buy a complete motor from them it should be "complete". Tell them you already promised the intake to somebody. Doesn't their site also have a disclaimer about their engines. Something about the fact that the motors could be "frozen" from sitting around. Sounds like they are getting top dollar for something that might be one step above a "core" motor.

I am not sure who you dealt with with Toysport but definitely keep the manifold. These engines are shipped from Japan and they included the manifold and even the double 40 Solex that came factory standard on the engine.
Tell them about our club and the negative publicity we can create for them. Also tell them you will file a complaint to TRD, that will worry them... If that does not work, let me know..I am local to them and I can raise hell with them, I know the Luz brothers personally.
Sorry, I just hate greedy people

Hey GoRet,

I don't know if this problem with ToySport is still going, but I thought I'd make a suggestion... One club member suggested contacting TRD I think it was, another suggested that they would talk to ToySport for you. If I may, I would like to suggest these things to consider:

1) Ask them to clarify, in writing, why it is that you should just be giving them back this intake per your sales agreement. It costs a few bucks, but send the request to them as a certified mail. This is often the first step in dealing with a company that is trying to screw a person around. If you have to send it back, make sure they are paying the shipping and your handling costs.

2) Contact TRD. Also contact your state's attorney general. Contact the state AttyGen of the state that ToySport is in. Contact the BBB. Contact the FTC. Web pages, e-mail and hardmail addresses and phone numbers for all of these groups can all be found online. All of these organizations will contact ToySport with legal position (sans the BBB for legal position), which puts presure on them on your behalf in a professional and respectable manner. This should bring them around. Going through the AttyGens of the applicable state/s is really where your focous should be. Going this route doesn't cost much and usually gets results. Also, you can write one letter that you can send to all of the organizations. Detail the problem, provide the contact info of ToySport, and tell them what you want (to accomplish). I'm finishing up doing this junk with a major paging provider -- the only difference is that I also had the FCC to sick on them. They seemed to take that seriously as that's the group they responded to.

3) Don't do any of that and send them a used and quite dirty intake manifold.*

With that said, good luck on the problem if it is still going.

*This is meant as a humorous suggestion, not to be taken seriously, I take no responsibility if anyone chooses to act upon this.
