I hear there are intakes for a 20R made by both companies. Holley makes/made one that has one big mouth intake port wich looks really good. The Offenhauser looks very-very similar to the stock intake. Does anyone have either? How did it perform? Did you see a differance?

Hey, while this topic has been started, I'd like to hear some discussion on the different celebrated carbs -- which do folks think are best for the 20R -- Holley, Offenhauser, Mikuni, Elderbrock, Webber, etc etc. At this point I was figuring on going with the smaller Webber down draft for the sake of performance, dependability, cost, parts, repairability, fuel efficency, etc.... but honestly, I don't know much about carbs. The only data I've gone over so far into my project is that the Webber side costs about 3 times what the Webber down costs, and that while the Mikuni functions well and I guess costs a bit less, there's something like that parts are harder to get but they're easy to work on, but they ahve to be constantly adjusted. Blah blah blah -- anyway, I would dig seeing discussion on carbs -- what's hot, what's not, and why.
CelicaMon

I think Minunis are one of the best carbs. regardless of whether you get 'em in 40 or 44mm. Access to the jets are easy as a cover on the top cover's em. A simple screwdriver removes the cover and your jets are accessible right underneath. I've had my 44mm Dual sidedraft Mikunis for over 15 years and I've never had a problem with 'em. If your thinking of using these on a 20R, 40mm duals would do just fine. Save 44mm dual sidedraft Mikunis for a 18RG. Also, I think you should maximize the carbs by using ITG velocity stacks. Mikunis even have a cooling resoirvoir underneath using the extra gas in the return line to take heat away from the carb body and thus keeping the carbs cool. The warmed fuel goes back to the tank where it has plenty of time to cool. VERY trick, simple and reliable. Also, for parts, look in GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine, there are ads there for Mikuni carbs. You can check with paul Spruell Motorsports or ITG.
IMHO...Mikuni is the one.
