To introduce myself, my name's Drew and I own a '95 Avalon with 187,000 miles on it. I don't plan on getting rid of it, as it rides beautifully and works better than most cars I've driven, but I'm having a problem with it and am not sure what to make of it. Sometimes (not every time, but several times a day) when I hit the brakes, I smell a chemical/burning smell come wafting into my car. I'm conjecturing brake fluid's leaking, although I'm not sure where from, and I thought I'd ask for a second opinion. Anyone have any ideas?

If it has rear drum brakes I would look for a leaking wheel cylinder. Or just look under the car to see if there is any leaks the could get on the front pads. If there is anything leaking you'll need to replace the pads/shoes and machine the rotors/ drums
