Not sure where to post this. Since this is the only hybrid forum I guess here will do.

Has anyone heard yet of the new Camry Hybrid. I'd like to get some information on it, but I can't find anything anywhere. Please post the mpg if you know them. Thanks.

Is this new? We've been looking at hybrids and they just cost too much right now. I'm hoping that used models will start showing up soon.

Yes it's new for 2007. I'm not sure if I was reading Car and Driver or Consumer Reports, but it's in there. The style and models are basically the same, it's just a hybrid. If I had the magazine I'd look up the info again, but I was reading at the infamous doctors office. I would just like to have the information so I can compare to other hybrids before actually making a purchase.

My biggest problem with all the hybrids right now is that they are just too expensive. I mean I want to help out with the environment, but I don't want to rebuild it all on my own!

We recently bought an '07 Camry, not a Hybrid. While doing our car shopping we noticed that the Hybrids cost about $10,000 more than the others. We also wanted one but they are going to have to come down in price first.

I remember seeing several different Hybrid makes and models at a car show we went to last Winter. Are most companies coming out with them now?

I heard that there was a company who has worked out the process of diesel and steam as a safe/inexpensive alternative. Apparently, this company is on the stock market...and if that’s the case and if the process works, it is going to fly!

I heard (or read just recently - can't remember which) that this is a scam. There is no "water fuel" vehicles about to hit the market or any design for on in the future.

I have heard that they are nearing a better corn fueled car, though.

The possibilities are there! Even Shell has experimented with a very fuel efficient car. But I don´t think is something that we will see within the next 5 years, or even 10 years. They are making so much money with oil, they are not ready to just drop that income! And the hybrids, if you think about it, are affordable for people that actually can afford the increase of the gas price! I guess eveything will go faster into development, if people weren´t so dependant on gas.

I am with most of you in agreement that these cars are very costly at the moment. It is a shame that the environment is unstable, and people expect us to buy cars to help the environment when most of us are financially unstable. It makes no sense to me!

The Camry Hybrid is incredible! I love it. Especially as gas has reacher $3 a gallon in my area.

I've been doing the happy dance (IMG:style_emoticons/default/460.gif)

Yes, they need to get the prices down. But with gas prices being where they are, the savings to someone who drives a lot makes it worth it.

I take it you guys missed the article about hybrids being worse for the enviorment than a hummer.

http://clubs.ccsu.edu/recorder/editorial/e....asp?NewsID=188

In the end it says Scion is the way to go. I hate hybrids anyways. All the drivers seriously remind me of the smug alert episode from South Park. Besides, I build my Camaro to make up for the pollution of as many hybrid cars as possible.

Everybody seems to love hybrids and I think they are overpriced and will just stick without a hybrid in my driveway until gas hits 4.00. looks like it won't be much longer lol

SS,
I loved that episode of South Park and I agree. I didn't go with a hybrid to save the environment. I did it to save money at the gas pump.

I know, I'm selfish. But at least I'm honest.

I would LOVE to have a Camry Hybrid. I'm with everybody in thinking that they cost too much right now, though. Still, maybe the gas savings would be enough?

Yes, with cash approaching 4.00 dollars where I live I think the extra 10,000 would be worth it in the end.

Gas is doing that here as well and Congress isn't helping. If I lived in an area where I could live on public transportation or bike/walk, I'd torch my car in protest!

Not sure I'd go quite so far as to torch my car, but I'd definitely sell it and put that money away. Here's another question - Anyone live in an area where you have access to Ethanol fuel? I live in Mississippi, and I've never seen it anywhere around here...
