Hi everyone! I've done some reading on the pros and cons of hybrid vehicles and the majority of people agree that you spend more than you save. However, I was wondering if someone could clear up a couple of questions for me.

1. At what speed does the gas engine kick in on the Highlander Hybrid? 30km? 40km?
2. How reliable is it in a Canadian prairie winter? eg. -35C

I'm looking at purchasing a highlander hybrid for a university campus where the speed limit is 30km/hr. If the majority of our driving is on electric, we should be saving a bundle, right? Right now we spend about $12,000/year on gas with a GM vehicle!

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!
