Is there anything at all that I can negotiate with my dealer? Has anyone gotten options thrown in, or cheap extended warranties?

Don't forget you are buying a car in demand. Your bargain is that you are not paying a $3000 primium.
-Jim

Not directly, but indirectly. I was able to pay for the car on my "rebate" credit card. That saved me a few hundred dollars - but the dealership didn't like it.

DH

I have heard that Toyota is losing money on this
car. Or, at least, not making any or much profit.

For that reason, I think that can't expect to buy
under MSRP. ALTHOUGH I have read in some much
earlier message posted here that some folks have
supposedly purchased at something less than MSRP.

I paid MSRP and got no extras.

- Gill

Well the local dealer sold a rental with a "few thousand miles" on it which had floor mats and not much else and I know that it wasn't driven soft for the break in period for minimum of $24,000 it is rumored that it got around $26,000. Never had a car that went up in value after driving it off the lot.

It might be the one I saw on the lot here in California to. The display screen wasnt even working properly and they were not ready to do any negotiation. I will wait the few months for mine and save the $5000 plus break it in properly. Besides the dealer hardly knew what a Prius was!

We managed to parlay the (normal 3 month) delivery delay into 3 years free service.

(We're in Canada where we get cruise instead of servicing. Our salesperson also made all sorts of promises about delivery times that he couldn't keep. The interesting thing is that, thanks to this group, we kind of knew that he couldn't. Didn't stop the negotiation in the end. )

John
