Just finished the install of the Cruise Kit I bought from Toyota. Took about an hour and a half. It works great. The only frustrating part is getting the lock nut loose on the brake switch so it can be replaced with the new one. I cut off a 14 mm open end wrench so that it was only 3 inches long to make it fit in the space available. Then I slipped the box end of another 14 mm wrench over the cut off end so I had some leverage to pull with. Once the lock nut loosened the switch came out easily. Didn't bother to remove the lower dash panel as they suggested. That would make the job more complex than it needs to be. Everything else was a piece of cake. No problem with removing and replacing the air bag. I followed the instructions that came with the kit and removed the negative terminal on the 12 volt battery, and pulled the handle to disable the High Voltage Battery. Sure is great to have cruise and save money on the installation too. Ray

Was the cruse control kit you purchased for the Prius? When I purchased my Prius in November I ordered the cruse control to be installed this summer when available. Today the dealer is still telling me he does not know about the kit. If you ordered one designed for the Prius I would appreciate the kit or part number.

Thank you
Joe Bracewell and the Silver Ghost
joe-bracewell@...

My car is a 2001, delivered 8/00. 2001 was the first (and until this fall) the only model exported, so it's extremely unlikely to encounter a 2000.
I also did not install Toyota cruise control in my car. (I have remote CC) I got those numbers from the Prius parts database on the toyota-prius@yahoogroups site.
Sam
