Hi everybody,
Good day to you

It's my first time visit here, and also is my first time to buy a car.

I did some search online, and also talked with some dealers, and tomorrow I will go to one of them.
I'm totally a NEWBIE. (not to the driving experence, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) hopefully. ) Could you give me some advice about "what to do" to get a right deal with my first car.
(price, options, warranty, maintenance,...) Or just paste the link, which you think is helpful, or the topic I've missed.

Or anyone who can share me with your buying experience, (especially in New York)

I'm interested in a Touring edition with opt#3.

Many x Many Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/liebe011.gif)

If you search through the threads here, there have been some great discussions ...pros and cons ...about the Prius. There are several owners who have contributed, and they're great reads. Worth looking for.

As a general rule, with no trade in, use the toyota build a car link on their site. Local dealers will pretty much fight over your business at that point.

Hey there! WEll here is what I learned the hard way:

Never pay the first thing they ask. :) Also, be careful if you are financing the car. It makes me sick when I saw what I end up paying in interest for a 16,000 car. Remember if they dont work with you, there will be a dealer somewhere who will. And also you can come here and post prices and get advice too if its too much or a good deal! Good luck to you!

Yes, I learned If one dealer can't do something you want move on another dealer will.

Thank you guys,
your infomation are helpful.

After I walked out from many dealer these days, finally I just got one...

But the story is not end yet, they are "locating" the car.
Since their price matchs my offer, I signed the paper and put the deposit down.
I'm not in the rush to get one right now, but I hope they won't let me wait for too long too.
(I'm kind of little worry about if it is right to put money down and wait them to tell me when they found a car)

Did they give you an approximate time frame? Also, if they fail to locate the car, do you get your deposit back?

For real. I'm not sure I would've given a down payment if they didn't even have the car. But, I know there comes a breaking point where you're so sick of car shopping, you're pretty much gonna' do whatever you gotta' do to get it settled.

Congrats on getting the car that you wanted! Also for getting them to see things your way on the price! What color and all did you end up getting? Hopefully you are in your new wheels very soon!

I could see giving them the down payment with a written contract if they had to go get exactly what I wanted. No reputable company would do anything but get the car. If you question the ethics of the place then you shouldn't be there in the first place!

I'm looking into hybrids right now. Especially the Prius. I want to help out the environment because I have seen the effects of global warming. The problem is that the price of the car outweighs the extra money you save on gas. Who knows, if the price of gas moves any further this car might be economical.

The car link is a good idea. Also already have a set amount that is your limit. So when you negotiate you have an easier time and the car salesman can't get you flustered or confused with terms and fees talk. Good luck in the purchase of your new car! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/57.gif)

I think it's a great idea as well especially for people who are intimidated by aggressive car salesmen!
