This is about the 91T that I bought from Ebay which also have the knocking sensor problem.
This weekend I bought a bunch of hoses that were cracked and leaking. Some attached to the housing of the turbo some to the intake. Anyway, I replaced them and then restarted the car and everythign seems to be just fine. The response to the gas got better and I also washed the engine.
Later on I realized that when I push the gas for the turbo to kick in, I see the turbo guage showing the turbo to kick in, but the car is slowing down instead of speeding. I thought may be the air filter is bad and the turbo is not getting enough air, so I replaced that also. It seems like when the turbo kicks in, the engine is trying but the car is not responding the way it should. My other car which is a 88T which is 5sp would be kicking ass by that time....
Anyway, I dont think I made any mistake cuz those hoses are real simple to replace. May be the transmission which is automatic is going out on me and its a coincidence that I happened to change those hoses at the same time. Or may be some how the turbo got screwed up.
Any suggessions...???

Might be the knocking sensors again, retarding the ignition. If you have not replaced them yet, when you floor it the computer gets screwed up info and even though the turbo is throwing in more juice, the spark plugs are getting retarded. As far as the transmission, ummm I guess its a possibility, but normally the transmission will shift wrong make noises, throw out fluid, or tons of other stuff (Vibrate,ect..) But I have never heard of it slowing the car down. I guess it is possible though. And as far as hooking the hoses up wrong, I dont know, try double checking your plumbing.

I have bought the new sensor and will replace it soon and see what happens next. What I dont understand is that I didnt experience this when I bought the car and driving it home. Also, the knocking sensor was still not there at that time. I have double checked the hoses also..and nothing seems to be wrong.

Well if all else fails take it to a toyota dealer, spend about $50 and have them diagnose it for ya. Saves alot of time, but it surely does not save money!!!! Toyota doctors are more expensive then regular doctors...
