I have a 1990 Toyota Pickup with a 22R, carb, 135,000 miles. Last weekend, I was driving a 70 mile trip and about 25 miles into it, going 70 miles an hour, I lost power and my truck actually stopped. It started after sitting about 5 minutes but it did the same thing about 10 miles down the road. It once again started and I made it the remaining 35 miles home.

I have been having a really rough idle once my engine has gotten warm (2 or 3 minutes) that has continually gotten worse over the last 3 months. I also can smell that my engine is running rich. I just changed the plugs, distributer cap and rotor cap. It runs better but still is idling rougher than it should. I also lost power in town when I took a 20 minute test ride near my house. I'm sort of don't know where to turn because I'm broke until I graduate college in May. Where should I go from here?

Does it sound like a gunked up carb?? I put carb cleaner in it last week and no help. Ive also read about vacuum tube leaks but not sure exactly how to test that. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

That could be a problem with the choke.
