I have a 95 toyota and the car isnt starting. its a 1.5 L. I took it to a shop and they said it was the ignition ignitor. Is there a test i can perform to find out if its bad?

Easier to buy the manual and do the checks it lists in Chapter 5, but here goes...

1. Check to see if you have 12V at the ignitor pin 3 and same voltage at Coil pin 1 when the ign sw is held in the on position (cranking the eng.). No? Something wrong in ignition sw wiring. Yes? Step 2.

2. Check for voltage at Pin 5 of ignitor. No? Check coil operation. Yes? Step 3.

3. Check for voltage at Pin 1 and 2 of ignitor. No? ignitor is bad. Yes? ECU problem.
