I have a 96 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 v6
Q: How do I remove the ignition switch for replacement.
The darn thing is worn out and is very hard to turn on.

Thanks for any help

Not sure what you mean by ignition switch. Maybe your starter contacts are worn and need to be replaced.

Thanks humanoid… I found what I needed so I post it here for anyone else that may need to know.

First you need to remove the lower part of the dash so you can access the bottom of the ignition key housing under the dash area..
Then look at the picture below for reference:
1: Use a flathead screwdriver and pop out the plastic ring around the ignition switch.
2: Turn key to the ACC position.
3: Push in the release pin with a small punch or small phillips screwdriver..
4: While holding the release pin in pull the key out and the whole switch cylinder will come out. WaLaaaaaa…

5: With your new switch, turn the key to the ACC position and the new key lock cylinder will slide right in..
6: Pop the plastic ring back in. Ya dun did it…

This will probably work for many Toyota vehicles..??
