Clean or replace it. A lock smith can help.

Everthing else works great (just had a new starter not long ago)... when you turn to START , the dash lights go out and 99% of the time the truck starts just fine - nice & quick , no clicking from the starter, lots of power . It is the 1% that annoys me when I have to hold it hard to START . Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the starter circuit showing the ignition switch & what the wire colors are ? (I'm thinking of installing a momentary switch to act as a backup) Shaun > > > > Shaun > Shaun, > When you turn the key to "start" do the dash lights go out? They > should. Mine, you can pull the key out while driving. > Disconcerting when doing highway speeds and it "falls" out when you > hit a hard enough bump. > Good Luck.

I had a problem like this over the last few weeks. I would go out and try to start the car and there was nothing. The radio worked and the battery was ok. It was driving me crazy. It was almost acting like it does when you try to start the car but you are not in park. I was freaking out cause I thought there might be something wrong with a switch or something where it was not figuring out that I was in park. However, I discovered that it was my engine kill on my alarm. Yesterday when I went out and it would not start, I disabled the alarm with the valet switch and it started right up. I do not know what would cause my alarm to kill the engine like that without any reason. I am going to take it in to find out what is wrong with this dang alarm. Amy
