I have an awesome MR-S Convertible that I bought two months ago in NZ. Have decided to move back to Australia in a couple of months and as I haven't had the car for a year cannot use the personal import scheme. Toyota Australia will not supply a letter of compliance because the car was originally imported from Japan in 2003. They say that Japanese local market vehicles do not meet Aust. Design Rules but do not say why and say that they are unable to source the information needed to compile a Letter of Compliance.
As they led the movement against imports why does this not surprise me? Anybody dealt with this or able to supply an address in Japan that could give my cars build specs and how they may differ from those built for the Aussie market?
