Toyota Forums _ Toyota Previa Forum _ Make A Trailer From A Toyota Previa

Posted by: previanut Jun 29 2009, 09:38 AM

I have started a topic here in the hope to get some feedback.
I bought a cheap previa and chopped it up. I bought a cheap caravan and chopped that up too.
I used the front section of the tow A-frame and bolted it through the chassis.
I cut the car from the front doors up and over then through the chassis sections.
Then I closed off the front by using hardboard to get the shape, then fibreglassed to that.
The (trailer) can now be towed as is and has been tested to 40mph with no problems.
In fact it towed lovely and smooth.

I still have loads to do like finish the front fibreglass, blackout windows, new 18" wheels, spray it white, ply the inside all over and cut down the rear coil springs as it now sits way too high with no weight on it....

The trailer as it stands weighs a mere 300kg so doesnt need brakes. However I will probably use the handbrake cable and connect it to the trailer braking hitch somehow. Have a look and tell me your opinions etc..
