Hi, new member here. I have Celica 4WS for 2 and half years now, love it. Have wierd problem though, the car turns to the left at 35mph, a little more at 45 and a little more at 55. It is so slight that anyone who drives the car does not notice but its enough to bug me. It used to turn the opposite way until i replaced steering rack recently to (get rid of leaking power steering fluid problem) now the problem has changed to turning opposite way. When car was tracked initially by garage it used to turn a huge amount but had it tracked again and now it turns just very slightly. It gets worse when I turn off sport. Is it 4WS problem or tracking problem, any and all help gratefully appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Dermot

Dermot..   sounds like the rear wheels were not correctly in line when the tracking was done.  This may have resulted in the rears been set wrong.   If you can get the car tracked with the REV's 2WS selected and the car inreverse(ignition on) this should make sure they are in the correct place......   HTH

That is how I got the wheels tracked last time, the problem was very bad before being tracked, now it is very slight. Thing is I have a feeling that they were still not centered properly. Will try getting them tracked again. Cheers Dermot

Reverse the car into the area where the garage are going to track it.. should make sure they are where the "4WS system" thinks is straight

Cheers. A mate of mine is in tyre business, I asked him to find a garage that has tracked 4WS cars before. Garage I go to are very good mechanics but no knowledge on 4WS. Reversing in is a good idea also. Definately going to try different garage to get it tracked. hopefully that will sort my problems. Cheers Dermot

Check the wheels are turning the same amount both directions, if you have been fiddling with the mechanism you may have connected the steering rod from the front of the corner out a spline or two. Apart from that make sure the rear wheels are centred (using the revs2ws) before you start alignment and any decent monkey with 4 wheel tracking equipment can set it.

Did not go at the mechanism myself, but that is not to say they did not put it out a spline or two themselves, but dont think they did. Hopefully tracking should fix it. It was so bad the first time they did it that the car crabbed when driving so much that cars behind moved back because they saw what was happening and got nevrous, car turning while travelling in a stright line would put the frighteners up anyone. Will let ye know how i get on. Dermot
