1.5 year old 2007 Rav4, 4cyl, Limited. Flexible plastic tube near bottom of driver's side door loose. Now engine light, VSC light and 4WD lights are on. Dealerships are not picking up phone to service. Advice?

What is this? Should I drive with it? Anything I can do on my own to try to repair?

Thanks.

It happened the same thing to me while driving on highway 2 day ago. after the check, VSC and 4W light came up it started a noise. I took my car for repair and they are trying to figure out what's wrong. I am concerned about the engine now. Take your car to repair shop immediately it is my suggestion.

My 08 Rav4 had the same lights come on after I crawled over some loose dirt/gravel. The check engine/VSC/4WD lights were all on. The 4wd would not engage. Found a loose "module" connected to a hose, near all the other plumbing just above the skid plate in front of the gas tank. Dealer confirmed it was an EPA module that monitors gas fumes and is attached to a box
containing a carbon filter. The price?? Hold on to your hat.....$772.00, + tax, + labor made it a $993.00 afternoon!!

However, this is what I did: The module broke off the face of the filter box very clean. It would seat right back into its original position, so I glued it with Elmer's Ultimate "high performance" glue, because that's what I had on hand. To help secure it, I laid strips of fiberglass repair cloth over the cracks and soaked them with glue, and let it set 24 hours.

And then I took some preventive measures. I fabricated a skid plate extension that bolts onto the bottom, rear of the factory skid plate, then extends to the outer main frame and uses the 2 larger bolts to complete the attachment. My new skid plate extension now completely protects all the modules, hoses, connections and other plumbing that used to be visible with only the factory skid plate. After about 100 miles, the glue repair is still holding, and NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON!!! I feel very confident the repair is good, and no debris can crack the module loose again.

I think this exposed set of EPA modules and plumbing is a design mistake by Toyota. They may have built it to be accessable by the mechanic, but it should NEVER be able to be broken off in such a casual manner. I would guess that even an icy snow drift would cause the same damage. And the price is outrageous!!

Good luck with your repair. Try the glue method.

It seems cooling system was broken and they had to change the gasket and trasmission and still after 3 weeks of "repair" my car is not any more the same in driving and check engine light VSC and 4W light still on. Brought my car again for repair to toyota. I am just tired of RAV4 and i think never buying anymore TOYOTA. It is the worse experience i ever had comparing even with used cars i had previously.

Anytime the computer registers a trouble code the check engine light and the VSC and TRAC lights all go on. Without a scan there is no point in guesing what the problem is.
